Our club was founded about 8 years ago by local Germantown residents and democrats who where interested in starting an upper Montgomery County focal point. Our membership has been well represented and has been active in the election of our former president, Rob Garagiola, to the State House of Representatives, District 15. We were very active in helping Terry Leirman almost beat Connie Morella in 2000. We also fought to have Al Gore and John Kerry elected to the White House. We have three precinct chairpersons in our club, volunteer for local democratic events such as the Montgomery County Fair, the annual Germantown Oktoberfest and local parades.

We want to become more involved in our community. We are looking into the "Adopt a Road" program and helping with the new park planned behind the new library.

Germantown has grown from a sleepy little town of a few hundred persons in the 1970's to an unincorporated town of over 70,000 residents. The growth has been staggering, as have the issues that have come along with that growth. We need to make sure that our voice is heard by the county and state governments. That is why we have this club. We need members from every precinct, every school cluster, every neighborhood in order to properly represent our town.
